The totally renewed Stradic CI4+ can be considered to be a real treat for the enthusiastic angler. With a striking design and ultra smooth reeling experience, combined with its light weight properties the reel is designed to win the hearts of many anglers around the globe. Build with exciting technologies like HAGANE gear, G Free Body, CI4+, X-SHIP, Core Protect, as well as the totally new Magnum Lite Rotor the new Stradic CI4+ is build to last.

By using ultra lightweight Ci4+ composite (exclusive to Shimano) in reel designs, Shimano has pushed the boundaries lightness to new heights.

• LIGHTWEIGHT Series with outstanding lightness
• X-Ship combined with powerful Hagane main gear
• New asymmetric Magnumlite Rotor for lightweight rotation
• G Free Body for improved balance with lightweight rods
• Hagane Body with Coreprotect water protection
• AR-C Light spool with Aero Wrap for excellent line lay
• New front drag design with easy to adjust knob
• Shielded A-RB Bearings
• CI4+ Frame
• Single Machined Aluminium Handle
• Cold Forged Aluminium Spool
• Waterproof Drag
• Floating Shaft II

X-Ship is a combination of features that work together to create much greater efficiency. By positioning the pinion gear close to the centre line of the large diameter drive gear, more power is transferred from the handle to the rotor. The pinion gear is also supported by two Shimano A-RB roller bearings. This creates more stability.

The HAGANE Drive Gear is produced by Shimano’s cold forging technology, without the need for additional machining. This delivers a long lasting smoothness, strength, lightness and power at the very heart of the reel. Traditional die-cast, machined gears are less durable under heavy loads.

The new design of the Magnumlite Rotor produces unprecedented light rotation. The rotor profile, which was previously symmetrical, is now asymmetrical. The bail arm mechanism, which was previously situated on the same side as the line roller, has been moved to the opposite side. This improves balance and combined with a lightweight line roller, titan bail and optimum arrangement of rotor thickness, a 14% saving in rotation inertia has been achieved increasing sensitivity to previously unreached levels.

CI4 is an exclusive material created by the inter-fusion of carbon and polyamide. It is almost as strong as metal with the lightness of a composite. CI4 is used for the body and rotor on many Shimano reels.

CI4+ is an advanced version of the original CI4. This highly technical material is 2.5 times stiffer than CI4 and is used on many high-end Shimano reels to increase weight savings. Use of CI4+ for the body and rotor also delivers remarkable stiffness for better reel efficiency.

The HAGANE Body is produced from high rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, whilst at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rock-solid housing and support for the moving internal gearing and greater e ciency throughout the reel.

CoreProtect prevents water entering the body, from under the rotor at the front of the body, and also into the Roller Bearing unit.

Shimano S A-RB bearings are high corrosion resistant A-RB ball bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand, salt or dust. S A-RB bearings are used in salt water reels.

X Aero Wrap is a worm gear oscillation system with a specially designed pitch to create optimal oscillation speeds. This provides superb uniform line lay to reduce loss of energy during the cast. X Aero Wrap is considered one of the best line lay systems in the world.

The one-piece bail wire has no gap for line to snag on during normal operation. Made of Stainless Steel, it reduces friction and allows the line to get onto the line roller quicker.

AR-C Spool is a patented spool design with an angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. AR-C spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knots when using braid. AR-C spools are now standard on almost all Shimano reels.

Floating Shaft II: The key friction area on most fixed spool reels is where the spool drive shaft meets the pinion. Shimano designers have overcome this by reducing a large percentage of surface area contact and incorporating bearings on either side of the shaft. The resultant design leaves the shaft in a „floating“ position, considerably improving efficiency and longevity.
